Starting Line: Women in the Race for Equality

In today's world, women are striving for equality, success, and fulfilment like never before. However, it’s important to acknowledge that we often don't start at the same line as men. The race for women has always been more challenging, with decades of history and societal norms to work through.

For centuries, history told us that we weren't entitled to the same rights and opportunities as men. We were denied the right to vote, to have a bank account, to get a mortgage, to work outside the home. We were told to get married, have babies, and not to dream beyond the confines of our domestic roles.

But today, we want all those things and more. We want careers, financial independence, and the freedom to dream big. The good news is, we can have all of these things. However, achieving them requires us to unpick the deeply ingrained beliefs and societal norms that have held us back for so long.

It’s crucial to realise that this journey starts with us. We must do the work to understand the history and the barriers that still exist. We need to actively break down these barriers, not just for ourselves, but for future generations of women.

As we work towards our goals, we should also take the time to celebrate the incredible successes of women who have paved the way. Their achievements remind us that progress is possible and that we, too, can reach great heights.

Remember, the starting line might be different, but the finish line is ours to define. Let’s embrace the journey, do the work, and celebrate every success along the way.
